In 2012, the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee passed Resolution 466 calling for the unconditional release of political prisoners Yulia Tymoshenko and banning visas from those responsible. The resolution condemned the government of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych (in office: 2010-2014) and called on NATO to suspend all cooperation agreements with Ukraine. Ukraine`s first deputy attorney general, Renat Kuzmin, has written a letter to U.S. President Barack Obama complaining about the revocation of his visa. Zelenskiy says the agreements have opened the door to “new possibilities.” His interview with Trump upset Washington. Who is Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Zelensky? Many Ukrainians had other plans. Thousands of people moved to Kiev`s central independence square and remained for months in a bloody standoff with the government. On December 22, 2017, the United States agreed to provide Ukraine with more lethal weapons, including Javelin anti-tank missiles, although it could not be used on this condition against the Russian-backed insurgency. But the Obama administration initially refrained from providing lethal aid for military aid, lest it launch a possible war with Russia. When the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991, Russia suddenly found its nuclear arsenal scattered throughout its former republics, including Ukraine. The storage warehouse included about 1,900 strategic nuclear weapons with the ability to strike the United States and many of its allies.
Meanwhile, Zelenskiy presented Erdogan with a state medal for his support of Ukraine`s “territorial integrity.” On 18 February 2009, the Verkhovna Rada in Crimea sent a letter to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the President of Ukraine to tell him that it was not appropriate to open a US representative office in Crimea and asked Ukrainian leaders to abandon the idea. The letter will also be sent to the President of the UNITED Nations General Assembly. The letter was adopted by roll call by 77 votes in, 9 against and one abstention. The United States maintains friendly and strategic relations with Ukraine and attaches great importance to the success of Ukraine`s transition to a prosperous market economy. [Citation required] In the autumn of 1999, following a period of economic decline marked by high inflation and a persistent dependence on government controls, the Ukrainian government began to take steps to revive economic reforms that have been stalled for years due to the absence of a majority of reforms in the Ukrainian parliament. The Ukrainian government`s stated determination to undertake comprehensive economic reforms is, in the view of the U.S. government, a welcome development and the United States is committed to helping Ukraine continue on this path. Bilateral relations suffered a setback in September 2002, when the US federal government announced that it had confirmed a recording of President Leonid Kuchma`s decision in July 2000 to deploy a Kolkhuga early warning system in Iraq.
